Actuel / actual

法语的“actuel”和英语的“actual”是一对典型的“假朋友”（faux amis）。两个词拼法差不多，但意思完全不同。所以，要注意啦：小心上当! (^v^)
法语“actuel”相对简单些，这只是个时间概念，意为“现在，目前”（present，current）. 例如：
à l’heure actuelle: 现在 (now, nowadays)
un problème actuel: 现实的问题（a topical problem）,
le monde actuel: 今天的世界 (Today’s world)
les prix actuels: 现行的价格 (present-day prices)。

在法国，François Hollande 是 actuel président (现任总统)，萨科奇也是总统，但他是“ancient président”（前总统）
而谁是“actuelle première dame de France”(现任的法国第一夫人) 呢？

« Première dame de France »，Titulaire actuel ?

“Actualité”就是“现在正在发生的事情”， 也就是“新闻”啦。我们看电视新闻, 一开始总是说：“A la une de l’actualité….”（新闻标题） 再看几个例子：
Le gouvernement actuel court au désastre.

The present government is heading for disaster.现在的政府正在走向灾难。
Les taux d’intérêt actuels n’incitent pas les gens à construire.

Present /current interest rates do not encourage people to build.现行利率无法鼓励人们建造房屋。

Cette pièce, écrite en 1890, reste très actuelle.

The play, written in 1890, is till very topical today.这部戏是1890年写的，但时至今日依然具有现实意义。

法语的Actuellement 与 actuel 意思相似，可译为“现在”（at present, nowadays）。 例如：

Qu’est-ce qui se passe en France actuellement ?

What is happening in France now?法国现在发生什么事了？
Actuellement, il est encore trop tôt pour se prononcer sur l’état du patient.

At present /at the moment it’s too early to give an opinion on the patient’s condition.现在要对病人的情况作出确切诊断还太早了。
Ces rites d’initiation se pratiquent encore actuellement dans certains pays d’Afrique.

These initiation rites still take place nowadays in some African countries.在某些非洲国家，直到今天还能看到这些成人仪式。
On assiste actuellement à une recrudescence de la pauvreté dans les villes.

Currently /at the moment we are experiencing an upsurge of poverty in the cities.目前，城市里的贫困现象正在加剧。

如果法语的 actuel 是从时间的角度， 衡量某事物的“现实性”，就是说，事物是否“现实存在”，英语“actual” 却并不涉及时间，它意为“真实的，实际的” (réel, véritable)，这是相对于名实不符的事物或虚构,假设的事物而言的。 例如：
The actual cost of the repairs exceeded all the estimates.

Le coût réel des reparations a dépassé toutes les estimations.实际的维修费用超出了所有人的预计。（预期与实际）
Could you quote his actual words?

Pouriez-vous citer ses paroles exactes ?你能不能引述他的原话？ （转述的大意与实际说的话）

The actual village is three kilometres from here.

Le village proprement dit est à trois kilomètres d’ici.真正的村子离这里还有三公里呢。（这里只是在地图上，从行政区划上讲属于那个村子。）

副词“actually”也有相似的意思。 例如：
What did he actually say?

Qu’a-t-il dit au juste/exactement/en fait ?他到底是怎么说的？
Do you mean to say that he actually apologised?

Tu veux dire qu’il s’est vraiment excusé ?你是说他真的道歉了吗？

He not only went up to the snake but he actually picked it up with his bare hands.

Il ne s’est pas seulement approché du serpent, il est allé jusqu’à le prendre à mains nues.他不仅朝蛇走了过去，而且还真的徒手把蛇抓了起来。
Actually, I don’t like champagne very much.

À vrai dire/en fait, je n’aime pas beaucoup le champagne.实际上，我并不喜欢香槟酒。
