法语的“patron” 和英语的“patron” 长得完全一样，但它们是一对“假朋友”：小心上当！

例如：

Le patron de la firme est un self-made-man.
The manager/owner/boss of the company is a self-made man.
公司的老板是白手起家的。

Le service est vraiment exécrable dans ce restaurant. Appelez-moi le patron !
The service is really appalling in this restaurant. Get me the manager/owner!
这饭馆的服务可真够差的。把经理给我叫来！（^v^）

La femme de ménage a abusé de la confiance de ses patrons.
The cleaning lady abused her employers’ confidence.

改善劳资关系很重要。

另外，法语的“patron”还有“守护神”（patron saint）等其他意思。

例如：

Saint Christophe est le patron des voyageurs.
Saint Christopher is the patron saint of travellers.
圣克里斯托夫是旅行者的守护神。

Le patron n’a pas l’air de très bonne humeur aujourd’hui !
Your old man doesn’t seem to be in a very good mood today!
你老公今天的心情不太好呀！（= mari）

J’ai acheté un patron pour me faire une nouvelle robe.
I’ve bought a pattern to make myself a new dress.
我买了个版型，准备照着做一件新裙子。

英语的“patron”主要意思是“顾客”(client)，和艺术领域里的“赞助人”(mécène).

The young painter was very lucky: a wealthy patron took him under his wing.
Ce jeune peintre a eu beaucoup de chance: un riche mécène l’a pris sous sa protection.
这个年轻的画家非常幸运：一个有钱人成为了他的赞助人。

The car park is for the use of patrons only.
Le parking est strictement reservé à nos clients/ à notre clientèle.
停车场仅供顾客使用。（^v^）

在酒吧里，有时会听到 bar tender 说（很豪爽的样子）：

C’est la tournée du patron !
It’s on the house /The drinks are on the house!
这杯是小店请客 (白送的)！（^v^）

这时不要客气，不要犹豫，既然人家愿意请客嘛...（^v^）
